Water Safety Instructor Course

Learn to teach people how to be safe in, on, and around the water, and to teach individuals of different ages and abilities how to swim. Participants must be at least 16 years old and be able to perform the following swimming skills: 25 yards each of front crawl, back crawl, breastroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and 15 yards of butterfly. Participants must also be able to maintain a back float for one minute in deep water and tread water for one minute.

All classes use a blended learning program requiring time at home to complete assignments and less lecture time on site. Participants can expect to spend six hours of time between class dates to complete the work. Participants not prepared for a class must transfer to a later class date.

A portion of this class will need to be done online. Please log in to The Red Cross at http://classes.redcross.org/Saba/Web/Main and create an account. Email Kathryn Stephenson with your username and password. Must be completed 5 days prior to the start of the class. Failure to follow this step will cause a move to another class and a $65 change.
