The Benefits of Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a very powerful, effective style of Yoga done while sitting in a chair or standing using a chair as a prop. You can use the chair or not! It is a form of Hatha Yoga so we move the spine in 6 different directions. Every “body” can do it!
Yoga at acac reaches out to all kinds of bodies. You will find members with varying limitations and challenges in Chair Yoga. However, you a limitation is not required for the class. Chair Yoga may be a way to balance other exercise programs. As the results of Chair Yoga if there is a temporary challenge or limitation you are experiencing you may eventually graduate to other classes. Many recover from temporary challenges but keep coming back for other benefits. This is a fun way to connect with a group of people whose collective target is to improve health, mobility and vitality.
There is no age limit nor previous experience needed. If you have considered it but felt like you wouldn’t be able to do it, give it a try. Come on in and have your own personal experience. The only requirement is that you and your health care provider are in agreement that you are a candidate for Chair Yoga.

One of my great joys in life is teaching Chair Yoga at acac. I enjoy working with the members and watching them grow stronger and more flexible and seeing their excitement with each milestone. As I offer encouragement and support they smile and relax into the class putting forth their best efforts. They share their improvements and invite family and friends to attend. Some see this as a social meeting place and have reconnected with old friends they haven’t seen in years. This class brings fun and health improvements with a social atmosphere. Come join us!
