Amber Herman

Amber has a B.S. in Communications and Recreational Tourism Studies from Old Dominion University. She worked in restaurants as a General Manager and Bartender before she became a certified Group Exercise Instructor in 2016.

Amber is passionate about dancing and helping other people reach their goals! She has a full teaching schedule at acac. Currently, Amber teaches Dance Fusion, Dance Fusion Water, HIIT, Kids Hip Hop, and subs for Water in Motion and Athletic Conditioning.

In her free time, you can find Amber hanging at the pool with her family and friends. They also love the parks, wineries & breweries. A beach girl at heart (she’s originally from the Virginia Beach area), Amber and loves to swim, boogie board and sit in the sand. She is also obsessed with sharks.

Katie Arostegui 

Katie has a B.S. in Musical Theater and Liberal Studies from California State University Chico. She is a former NFL Cheerleader, cheering for the Baltimore Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks. She loves participating in and putting on musicals for all ages.

In her spare time, you can find her hiking, gardening, or spending time with her family.

Katie teaches La Blast Fitness, La Blast Splash, Barre Sculpt, and Barre Fusion at acac

Leanne Higgins

Leanne has a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Penn State University. She also has an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and an Ed.D. Educational Leadership from University of Delaware.

Leanne is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Health Coach, and Group Exercise instructor. Before acac, she was a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor at the University of Delaware from 1999-2016, teaching roughly 20 group classes a week!

Currently, you can find Leanne working with clients and teaching Group Ex classes, which include: Simply Strength, Mat Pilates, Strength Challenge, ChoreoStep, and Athletic Conditioning.

Leanne loves visiting vineyards in the area, hanging with her husband & three daughters (ages 17, 19, & 21), and going to UVA games (she coaches the UVA Cheerleading team!)

Mark Cagley

Mark has a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University. Up until 2013, Mark worked in Information Systems and Software Development.

Around that time, Mark was inspired to change his life – he overcame obesity, sedentary lifestyle, Major Depression and PTSD – and discovered fitness via acac‘s Physician Referred Exercise Program (p.r.e.p.).

He subsequently changed careers and became a NASM National Academy of Sports Medicine certified Personal Trainer. Marked started with acac in 2016, became a Group Exercise Instructor in 2017, and became and ACE certified Health Coach in 2018.

Currently, he teaches:
Foam Rolling/Stretch: Wed 6:45pm AS, Thu 10:45am AS
Stretch: Wed 10:40am AS
Balance: Thu 3:00pm AS

Mark’s favorite things to do in Charlottesville include walking/hiking the trails that provide such an amazing connection to the peace and profundity of nature right under our noses and yoga with the frogs after a rain.

Ralanta Thomas

Ralanta is a Registered Dietitian with a B.S. in Dietetics from Bluffton University in Bluffton, Ohio. She came to Charlottesville at age 23 for her post grad internship and has lived here ever since.

Ralanta teaches BodyStep, BodyPump, and CXWORX at acac. Previously, she was the Slimdown Coordinator and the Nutritionist for the p.r.e.p. program.

In her free time, Ralanta loves spending time outdoors. Her favorite activity in Charlottesville is going to Chris Greene Lake to sit by the water with lunch or a book, go for a run, kayak, or my her favorite…paddleboard yoga!
