Interested in playing Badminton? acac Badminton brings players from diverse backgrounds and various skill levels together on court to improve skills, play competitively or learn from scratch. Join a weekly game on Fridays, between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM and Sunday between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, or create your own teams. Equipment is available and can be checked out at the Member Services Desk. Advanced court booking is advised.

Wallyball looks a lot like volleyball, but is actually played on a racquetball court. If you’ve played volleyball you’ll quickly pick up the basics of Wallyball, but be prepared for a faster paced game and the unexpected. Ordinary volleys can go in a whole new direction when balls spike the wall, and experienced players use this strategy to confuse and distract their opponents.

Weekly games are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:00 PM to closing. Members and guests are invited to drop-in for regularly scheduled games, or to create their own teams. Check out equipment at the Downtown Member Services desk.

American Handball

Here are three great reasons to play American Handball:

1.) It’s a heart healthy workout.
2.) Handball develops body balance by using dominant and non-dominant hands equally.
3.) Unlike many sports, handball can be played year-round, for a lifetime!

American Handball at acac is played our our Racquetball Courts, follows the same rules as Racquetball, and similarly is played as singles (two players against each other), doubles (two teams of two players), or round-robins (three players rotating one against two). The difference is in the name. Whereas forehand and backhand strokes are executed with a 2′ long racquet in Racquetball, Handball employs the use of players’ dominant and non-dominant hands to score points.

Handball gloves and balls are available for purchase at the Downtown Member Services desk. Protective eye wear (available on loan at Member Services) and non-marking court shoes are required.

Weekly matches are scheduled most Tuesday and Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.

Youth Policy Update

Children age 16 and under are invited to play a racquet sport on court at any time when accompanied by an adult (age 18+). Protective eyewear, non-marking court shoes and appropriate attire are required.
