Pre-wedding nutrition essentials
Nutrition plans a key role in how we feel and look. You want to be your best self (inside and out!) for your wedding. Here are some wedding nutrition tips to make a healthier body and mind before your big day:
- Cut your sugar intake in half – the World Health Organization recently issued guidelines for sugar consumption: limit your consumption to 7 teaspoons/day. To convert grams of sugar into teaspoons, divide the grams by 4. For example: a 20 ounce bottle of Coke contains 65 grams of sugar or 17 teaspoons.
- Fish – the fatty acids in fish are essential for healthy skin, helping it retain moisture, fight sunspots, fine lines, redness, and irritation. The Omega 3’s in salmon are the best of the best, but if you aren’t a fan of salmon, are a vegetarian, or simply can’t afford it (what, are you planning a wedding or something?), flaxseed is your next best option.
- Eat more eggs – surprised? Eggs are getting the thumbs up from health experts who say that eggs are not only a great (and affordable) source of lean protein, they also may be loaded with health benefits we hadn’t considered before! Eggs are chock-full of two antioxidants; lutein and zeaxanthin, which are known to improve memory and brain function (every stressed-out bride could use a dose of that, right?)
- Water – nothing cleanses your body like a healthy serving of water. Don’t know how much to drink? Divide your body weight in half – that’s how many ounces of water you should aim for in a day.
