Resources for Body Positivity

So you’ve decided (or nearly decided) that you want to learn to love and appreciate your body more for how it is RIGHT NOW. You want to give up dieting and beating yourself up when you don’t meet your exercise goals and figure out how to truly live a more healthy and balanced life. So what now?

Here’s a list of resources I’ve compiled that have helped me on my body image journey:

  • Books:
    • Healthy at Every Size by Linda Bacon
      • The original book for the HAES protocol; quite a lengthy read but full of science that breaks down diet culture and shows why diets don’t work
    • Body Respect by Linda Bacon
      • A shorter read on the HAES protocol for those looking for a quicker read with less scientific background and more focus on creating a healthy body image
    • The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
      • A great book on loving yourself, letting go of guilt, and embracing your “flaws”; does have some potentially triggering diet culture language, as this book is not specifically on body image
  • Podcasts & Blogs:
    • Caroline Dooner’s The “F” It Diet
      • I absolutely cannot wait for her book to come out soon, as I will honestly buy it for everyone I know when it does. Her podcast is engaging and informative, while still being down to earth. Her protocol is pretty much everything I believe in as far as developing a healthy relationship with food and your body. She reads some of her blogposts in her podcasts, so check out whichever outlet works best with your learning style.
  • Instagram:

If this list feels overwhelming or you feel like you need a personal touch in navigating where to start on your journey, please please feel free to reach out to me by email, facebook, text, call, etc., and I can get you started on what will be the most rewarding part of your health and wellness path if you’re willing to learn to love yourself truly.
