MD Clubs Reopening FAQs

We are excited to announce that fitness clubs have been included in Phase 2 of Governor Hogan’s plans to re-open Maryland. As of June 19, all Maryland acac clubs are permitted to open with limited occupancy, subject to a number of guidelines and rules designed to help clubs operate as safely as possible. We are thrilled to announce that our Timonium and Germantown club locations will be re-opening our doors to members on Friday, June 19. acac Hunt Valley will re-open on Saturday, June 20.

The team at acac has been actively monitoring and preparing for the safe and effective re-opening of our clubs. With continual review of the recommendations from state and local health officials, the CDC, and our Emergency Response Team, we have put into place a comprehensive plan that meets or exceeds all guidelines set by the state of Maryland for a safe return to exercise. Group Exercise Reservation PolicyTimonium & Germantown

To allow for proper social distancing, capacity is limited in classes and advanced registration is required. We appreciate your patience over the past months as we have adapted our operations to support social distancing and safety protocols. We have listened to your suggestions and have made a few updates to our class reservation policies, effective November 1. We are hopeful this will create more opportunity for our members to attend acac classes.  

We have extended your ability to reserve your space in class up to 15 minutes prior to the class start time. 

 
​Stuff happens! If you reserve a space and need to cancel, no problem. Just make sure you do so 2 hours prior to the start time. There will be a $5 fee if you cancel with less than 2 hours prior to the start of class. If you can’t attend and fail to cancel, a no show fee of $15 will be assessed. 
 
When you check-in at the Member Services desk, don’t forget to let the team know you are attending class. They will be sure to mark you as attended.

MD Club Re-Opening FAQ

Q: When is Kids Zone opening?
A: acac Germantown and Timonium Kids Zone are now re-open for use. Registration is no longer required. Click here to read our guidelines.

Q: Is towel service available?
A: Hand towels are available for member use, but bath towel service may not be available at your club location.

Q: Do I need to register for classes?
A: Due to limited capacities, all group exercise classes will require pre-registration. Registration opens 25 hours in advance. Please register online or using the acac app (instructions below). Please note our reservation policy above.

Q: Do I need to wear a mask?
A: Members are required to wear face coverings indoors at all times (even during exercise). Wearing of masks or facial coverings is also required by all member-facing acac team members. 

Q: How is acac going to clean the club?
A: acac has developed extensive cleaning protocols and acquired all necessary cleaning agents to thoroughly clean the club daily. All details of our new cleaning procedures and processes can be found at acac.com/clean.

Q: What screening precautions are in place?
A: Members and team members with a temperature reading of 100.4 or higher and/or failing any of the Cleared for Entry screening questions related to signs/symptoms of COVID-19 may not return to acac until he/she has documented permission from his/her doctor stating that he/she does not present a risk for transmitting COVID-19.

Q: How will acac maintain physical distancing?
A: All class capacities will be reduced to provide for 10 feet of distance between members. Cardio equipment and strength equipment will be distanced as needed or removed from service.

Q: What restrictions remain for indoor pools?
A: Indoor aquatics centers are available for member use. All swimmers should maintain ten feet of distance at all times from other swimmers and follow club protocol regarding safety. At acac Germantown, 1 member maximum may use a lap lane at any one time.

Q: Are there parts of the club that will not reopen?
A: Hot tubs, steam rooms, & saunas must remain closed according to local health guidelines. 

Q: How can acac support those who have underlying health conditions?
A: Virtual and outdoor class offerings are included with membership and are a great way to exercise for those concerned about indoor activities.

Q: How can I reactivate my membership?
A: Simply email accountsupport@acac.com or come by the club to activate your membership.

Q: How can I start using remaining sessions on my account?
A: Any sessions remaining on your account will be there when you return and you can begin using them when you are ready.

Q: Are there any changes to the guest policy?
A: Out of town guests are not permitted at this time. Members may bring local guests for the daily fee of $12. Members may bring as many guests as there are members on the membership or one non-member family. For example, a family of 3 may bring up to 3 guests at a time. Current Members with a freeze/hold on their membership will pay a daily fee of $20. All guests must complete the health screening and a waiver before entry. Guests who are not accompanied by a member are not permitted at this time. Guest passes can be used for any area of the club including the Waterpark.

A: Group Classes will be delivered in several formats: inside, outside (Timonium only), and virtual. Simply pick the right type of class for you when you are ready to get started.
