Six Reasons to Try a Cycle Class

Our new and improved EDGE Cycle Studio is officially open! If you haven’t tried a class yet, here are six reasons why you should:

You can set your own pace.
Some people worry that they won’t be able to keep up with the instructors or the other participants in a cycle class. However, because you set your own resistance, you can challenge yourself as much or as little as you want. As long as you’re pushing yourself, you’ll still see results.

They’re low impact.
If you crave a good cardio session but your knees can’t keep up with your daily runs, then cycle is a great option for you. Classes are low impact, so they’re safer for those hips, knees, and ankles, but they’re still great for endurance and cardiovascular training. Just be sure to ask one of our instructors to help you set up your bike so that your body is in proper alignment.

You’ll burn serious calories.
If you’re familiar with HIIT (high intensity interval training), you know that it’s one of the most effective ways to burn calories and get in shape fast. A typical cycle class follows the same principles of HIIT. Different tracks push you to pedal faster and increase your resistance to spike your heart rate, followed by brief periods of rest. You can burn upwards of 500 calories in a single class!

You can get a total body workout.
Cycle classes are a great way to build your leg and core muscles, but did you know that you can also get in an upper body workout? Our Rhythm Ride and Power Ride classes use hand weights to tone your arms, shoulders, and upper back.

You’ll enhance your mental strength.
We all know that exercise releases endorphins and helps relieve stress, but cycle classes will also help you develop a can-do attitude. Pushing through a tough endurance track or making it through a long climb takes self discipline. That feeling of accomplishment you have at the end of class will encourage you to push through the difficult times, both in class and outside!

They’re fun!
Cycle regulars return to class over and over again because it’s a great workout but also because it’s FUN! Between the music, motivation from the instructor, and camaraderie between participants, you’ll have a blast.
