On Site Medical Team

When it comes to your health, having the right team matters. Our clubs are supported by nurses, registered dietitians, and certified trainers, with a team trained in CPR and First Aid on site. Cancer Survivorship

NEW! Cancer Survivorship Exercise Program

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Maple Tree Cancer Alliance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals who battle cancer. As the leading provider of exercise oncology in the world, Maple Tree has developed evidence-based, cancer-specific exercise programs to help individuals battling cancer live better, exactly what acac is all about.

We are now offering Maple Tree’s Survivorship Program, which is designed to help cancer survivors regain strength, reduce side effects, and improve overall well-being through exercise. This three-month, evidence-based exercise program makes it easier for survivors to stay active and take charge of their health. Overall, cancer survivors who exercise during remission have a five-fold decrease in all-cause mortality compared to those who remain sedentary!

GLP-1 Support

This 3-month program is designed for individuals who are currently taking obesity management medications (GLP-1s, GIPs, etc) or individuals considering taking these medications. Work with our specialty trainers to make sure you are getting the support you need from an exercise standpoint and set up a proper nutrition/health coaching plan. The programs includes 1-on-1 meetings, support group-type interactions, monthly educational seminars, and more.

Healthy Lifestyle Support


Need help with accountability? Looking to lose some weight? Are you at risk for developing Diabetes? We have partnered with the CDC to offer a group-based program that has been proven to help participants lose weight, adopt better eating habits, and achieve the recommended amount of physical activity. We utilize the Prevent T2 curriculum developed for the National Diabetes Prevention Program.

The program consists of 24 meetings, covering different wellness topics, and is led by our certified lifestyle coaches. The program is covered by Medicare for qualified individuals.

Pedaling for Parkinson’s

The Pedaling for Parkinson’s™ program is based on research indicating that forced exercise on a bicycle can reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s. In fact, participants who ride three days a week over eight weeks have shown improvement in their Parkinson’s-related symptoms by as much as 35%.

With a referral to acac’s p.r.e.p. program, participants enjoy unlimited Pedaling for Parkinson’s group exercise classes and get full access to the club amenities and support.

Physical Therapy

Having physical therapy available within your fitness center makes wellness more seamless and accessible. Conveniently located on-site, our in-house Physical Therapy clinics offer evidence-based manual therapy focused treatments that are custom-designed to help you recover from your injury or condition as quickly as possible.

Our Charlottesville, Virginia locations are proud home to our co-owned Physical Therapy at acac clinics, operated in partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. Other club locations offer on-site physical therapy clinics through unaffiliated third-party vendors for your convenience.

Developed by acac Fitness & Wellness, the Physician Referred Exercise Program (p.r.e.p.®) was designed with one goal in mind: to help individuals with health concerns safely begin or return to exercise, under professional supervision. Originally developed to bridge the gap between medical care and fitness, p.r.e.p.® supports recovery, wellness, and lifelong health through medically informed movement.

Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, recovering from a procedure, or simply new to exercise, p.r.e.p.® offers a structured, supportive path forward. And it’s not just for one type of participant; this program is open to all fitness levels and tailored to your unique needs.

Referral forms are conveniently available above on our website to help make the process easy. Simply print out the referral form and bring it to your physician at your next visit.

Insurance billing is currently available only for our Healthy Lifestyle Program, with Medicare coverage for those who qualify. All other programs and services are self-pay. If you’re unsure which program is right for you, our team is happy to help you explore your options.
