Team acac:
First and foremost: Awesome January! The clubs were busy, all of our departments had great months, and we crushed our membership and personal training goals. Keep up the great work!
For many industries, guarding trade or operational secrets is part of doing business. Within the fitness industry however, sharing of best practices is commonplace. Many leaders participate in small round table groups of fellow club owners and operators. acac has participated in these meetings for many years and lessons learned have been put into practice at our clubs.
One of the most interesting club owners in the country just exited my round table earlier this year and his own story is worth sharing. Red Lerille has been in the club business for almost 60 years and is as passionate about his club today as he was when it was founded. I am pretty sure there will never be another quite like Red, so we all don’t need to start waking up at 2:30 AM every day for our workouts like he does. However, we can all take something away from how he runs his club and how he lives. Check out this video to learn more about Red (Note: the first 30 seconds are just an intro):
After watching this, I still have no idea how Red manages to pursue all of his passions with such dedication. He certainly embodies our acac core value of continuous improvement. Red inspires me to move more quickly to deliver value to our members and our team. If we find things that need to be done, let us all have a bias for action.
Being proactive to solving problems as a team will be even more important during this busy time of year. Our members and guests will notice and appreciate the efforts you all make to keep our club clean and make them feel welcome. We can all take the time to close a locker door, take a full towel bin to the laundry or pick up trash from the floor. Our clubs are some of the best in the country, so let’s all continue to chip in to keep them looking great.
You may all remember that we set a target of 25,000 memberships last year. With the addition of our Greenville clubs, we now have a new number to reach: 30,000 memberships. Currently, our clubs have roughly 27,500 total memberships and we are growing each month. I will keep everyone updated on the progress we make throughout the year. I have no doubt we will hit our company wide goal soon!
Thank you all for your continued hard work and dedication to our acac family,
Chris

AS & DT
Cville Lifeguard gathering: Lala and Lydia from Downtown, Steve, Michael and Annie as well as Jonathan (pool maintenance) and Aquatics Director Sam, GM Mike Battle

Albemarle Square
Our Marketing Director, Cassy shared her birthday with a nice brunch prepared by our Cafe Director, Lauren. Good times, good laughs and good food were had by all that registered after a rigorous workout. Cassy, way to promote that job security. Work them out and then increase that caloric intake.

Another birthday celebration came by the way of our own opening lifeguard, John Nowell. He is our opening lifeguard (4:30am) 4 days each week.

An Albemarle Square member dropped off these cute little bears, overflow from a charity drive. Giving these out to our Kids Zone kids made their day.

Short Pump
The Aquatics Team in Short Pump went to The Virginia Axe Company, for our annual holiday outing on January 7th.
Picture us doing target practice with axes, spears & throwing stars! It was a great time for bonding and hanging out as a team outside of our acac home. Some of us were better at throwing than others; we definitely all either learned a new skill, or what not to do. 🙂

Ta-da!” Asanas and all, Team Group Ex really put on quite a spectacle of a show, last Saturday with the Les Mills Mega Launch. The members, and some of their guests, did a mini-marathon of classes to new moves, music and motivation, thanks to our stellar instructor team of talent: Jeanette, Laura, Priya, Steffanie and Joy, led by GE leader, Leigh. Every class, from start to finish, was well-attended and the whole morning went like clock-work. It felt like the days of old but with a fresh new, exciting vibe! The energy was epic. Way to kick off the year, team!
