September 1 – 30 | Fall Into Fitness Challenge | Free
School is back in session and time for a new challenge. Pick a cardio exercise that you have never tried. By the end of September, be able to complete 30 (beginner level), 45 (intermediate level) or 60 (advanced level) minutes in one workout. Need coaching with choosing your new exercise or how to improve your time? Schedule a session with one of our certified personal trainers. They can provide an overview of the machines and review strategies on building cardio endurance. Tracking calendars are available at Member Services and must be turned in by October 6. The Kids Zone would like to celebrate all friendships – school, acac, church, neighbors and more! When children visit the Kids Zone, they will receive a bracelet at the time of pick-up to wear or to share!

The Aquatics Center will be closed for yearly maintenance and repairs. All members will be eligible to use the outdoor pools during this time. Additionally, a reminder that members may visit the Aquatics Center at acac Short Pump.

Want to become a personal trainer? Gear up for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training Exam with this weekly workshop led by Certified Personal Trainer Jennifer Perrin. Participants receive 70% off the ACE Personal Trainer Study Program (must register for ACE program and exam separately). This course is taking place at acac Short Pump.

Richmond’s tennis event of the year is back! The event will be hosted by Westwood Club and Salisbury Country Club, and we would love you to come out to this awesome event to support our players! We will have women’s, men’s and mixed doubles teams from the 3.0 level all the way up to the 5.0 level competing each day against 11 other clubs in the Richmond area! There is sure to be a lot of great tennis in store and we look forward to seeing you out there cheering on acac!

Bring in the Autumnal Equinox with a Sunrise Yoga Flow. Yoga Flow is for everybody and will take place on the turf field, weather permitting. This class offers a balanced blend of slow flowing movements, breath awareness, and foundational postures suitable for practitioners of all levels seeking to cultivate strength, flexibility and mindfulness. Registration is open 25 hours in advance, closes 15 minutes prior, and is encouraged to secure your space and equipment. Kindly cancel your registration if you cannot attend. Registrations will be honored until the start of class.

Join us for this month’s presentation from the Alzheimer’s Association. Research is still evolving, but evidence is strong that people can reduce their risk of cognitive decline by making key lifestyle changes. The slide pool is going to the dogs! Bring your pup to enjoy a swim. We’ll have the tennis balls and dog treats. You make sure your pup is up-to-date on all vaccinations, wearing a collar with tags, is leashed coming in and out of the Waterpark and interacts well with other dogs and humans.

October 1 – 31 | Pumpkin Carry Challenge | FREE
What better way to get in the Halloween spirt than to challenge yourself to the pumpkin (kettlebell) carry challenge? During the month of October, members can challenge themselves to carrying a set of kettlebell’s around the track. Both the weight of the kettlebell and number of laps can be tracked on the Pumpkin Carry Challenge sheet. Tracking sheets are located at Member Services. Prizes will be awarded for most weight carried, most laps completed and biggest improvement of weight carried. Tracking sheets must be turned in by November 6.

Celebrate the joys of Thanksgiving by joining in our second annual 5K Turkey Trot. This fun challenge tasks members with the goal of completing a full 5K race (3.1 miles) using the treadmills in the club, run or walk! You can do it all in one day or break it up over the week. Tracking sheets are located at Member Services by November 21. Tracking sheets must be turned in by December 5 to be entered into a raffle to win a selection of acac gift cards.
