Pickleball is open to all classifications of acac membership. We offer level play, skill level round robins, drills and skills, private lessons and in-house tournaments.

The Pro Court, as well as all hard/bubble courts have permanent pickleball lines with mobile nets available for member use.

Court Fees

Full Facility members have the capability of booking a pickleball court under the same booking rules as tennis players and are subject to indoor court fees on the Pro Court and on the Hard Courts when the Bubble is up (mid-October through mid-April). All others may play with full facility members, sharing in the court fees and paying a $15 guest fee.

Off-Off Peak | 9:00 – 10:30pm | $14.50/hour



Learn the fundamentals of pickleball combined with scoring and strategy to play matches. This course will be half drill and half live ball oriented during each session. Open to ages 10 – 18.

Open for adults to drop-in and play matches against other players. No instruction.

Pickleball FAQs

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s played with a perforated ball and a paddle on a smaller court.
Pickleball is suitable for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player looking to improve, you will find an appropriate pickleball activity for your skill set at acac Fitness and Wellness Midlothian.
Year-round pickleball is available at both our acac Short Pump and acac Midlothian locations in Richmond, VA. Members at acac Short Pump can enjoy private pickleball lessons or pickleball open play. Memebrs at our acac Midlothian location can enjoy private pickleball lessons, open court pickleball play, pickleball clinics and pickleball socials.
In order to play pickleball at our acac Midlothian or acac Short Pump locations, you do not need your own equipment. acac provides paddles, balls and nets for shared use. However you are welcome to bring your own gear, and many members choose to do this.
The duration of a pickleball lesson can vary but usually ranges from 1 to 1.5 hours. Some lessons may be shorter or longer, depending on the instructor and the specific program.
Comfortable athletic clothing and non-marking court shoes are recommended. Be sure to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during play!
The cost of pickleball lessons can vary depending on the location, instructor, and group size. Typically, group lessons are more affordable than private lessons.
